So, okay, I know the world and his wife have been talking about this palette for years. But, here in Australia we’re often the last to hear of things, they’re usually more expensive, much more difficult to obtain… whatever, it’s hot down here. Shit slows down.
As you probably know by now Urban Decay Naked Palette is a collection of twelve creamy, neutral powder shadows. The shades range from champagne to bronze, to chocolate, to charcoal. The collection includes seven of Urban Decay’s bestsellers and five exclusive shades.
- Virgin: nude satin, I use this shade a bundle on my inner eye.
- Sin: champagne shimmer, my favourite highlight.
- Naked: buff matte, the best everyday all over shade.
- Side Car: beige with glitter.
- Buck: brown matte, the greatest crease colour for a workday.
- Half Baked: bronze shimmer.
- Smog: golden brown shimmer.
- Dark Horse: dark brown shimmer.
- Toasted: taupe shimmer, my favourite. It’s just the prettiest.
- Hustle: mocha shimmer, and I love this paired with Toasted.
- Creep: black with sparkle.
- Gunmetal: dark grey with sparkle.
‘Baby, where have you been all my life?’ I exclaimed the first time I used the shadows in the Naked Palette. In that moment I realised I’d been kissing a lot (A LOT) of frogs for years. These shadows are so, so creamy, packed with pigment, have very little fall out and blend beautifully. The palette itself is a feast for the senses. Long and slim, it’s covered in chocolate brown velvet. MY palette is covered in chocolate brown velvet and white cat fur. Although not the most practical of materials, it is pretty damn luxe.
What I really want to tell you guys is that despite its posh exterior this is a value packed product. For $62.30 from Beauty Bay you get twelve 1.3g shadows. Now, a single MAC shadow contains 1.5g of product and also costs a whopping $33. So, in order to have as much volume as in one Naked Palette you’d need at more than TEN MAC shadows, at a cost of over $330! Say, whuuuut?!
In addition to these fabulous shadows, with the Urban Decay Naked Palette you’ll also receive a full sized Urban Decay Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush ($24.90), the very same one available for purchase. I love the weight and style of this brush. It’s so soft, well balanced and really packs on the colour. But wait, there’s more! (I’ve always wanted to say that.) Included with the palette is a sample sized (3.7ml) Urban Decay Primer Potion, another excellent Urban Decay product. Twelve hours of wear on a hot Spring day and my eyeshadow still showed no signs of creasing.
So, for all the curious Aussie (and international) babes out there: This. Is. Worth. The. Money. Hand on my heart, you will love this palette. Before now, I’d shied away from matte shades, believing them to be boring and chalky. The shades, Naked and Buck have me completely converted. I reach for those above any other! So, I do wish that Naked contained a couple more matte shades. Because of this, I cannot wait to collect the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. Not to forget the recent announcement of the very rosy Naked 3 Palette! Another beautiful addition to a pretty clever collection.
This palette has become my everyday go-to palette, but what’s yours?
